EasyMove Services Checklist 2

Australia Post offers a convenient service to redirect and hold mail, before and during your move. All you have to do is go onto their website and look for the ‘Manage your mail’ page.

To do this –

1. Type the following URL into your browser:

2. There are drop-down menus on this page – Receiving/Sending/Money & insurance/ID & document services/Shop. Click on Receiving, then Manage your mail.

3. Click on Redirect & hold mail.

4. There’s a couple of options here:

Redirect Mail

Here, you will find options to redirect your mail & parcels to your new address for 1,3,6 or 12 months, add up to 6 names (other names you may have or have had &/or your fellow dwellers) and notify selected finance institutions, insurers, energy providers and telecommunicaton companies of your new address.

If you don’t see the provider on the list when applying for this mail redirection service, you’ll have to contact them yourself! Easy done! Just refer to PART 1 & 2 of this series.

Pricing tiers are categorised into four: Personal, Concession, Home Office & Business.

Hold mail

Mail and parcels can be safely stored from a minimum of one week to a maximum of twelve months with Australia Post. You can use this convenient service for, of course, when you’re moving house, travelling or taking time out from your business. Like above, you can add up to 6 names – including multiple trading names of your business.

And.. like above.. pricing tiers are categorised into four: Personal, Concession, Home Office & Business.

Change your service

This relates to extending the above services – redirect & hold mail. You can extend via visiting the post office, phone or online. Also, have your Customer Reference Number on hand to do this.

If you elect to have someone visiting the post office on your behalf, they must have your written authority.. with your name & signature.. plus the Alter or Cancel form.

The four pricing tiers apply.

Australia Post can also help if you’re not sure if you’ve got or already have COVID – 19 and are stuck in self-isolation and quarantine: just contact Australia Post online.

And if you scroll down further, Australia post even has a Redirect parcels in transit feature. This is available when the shipping information includes your email address, mobile phone number OR Australia Post customer number and the destination is a street address.

Also, by clicking on Apply with MyPost to consider a Post Office Box (P.O. Box)- under ‘Need a more permanent solution’ you’ll be on your way to getting a P.O. Box. Great – if you move house or business addresses often.

To sum up – the redirect and hold mail services provided by Australia Post are not only convenient & time-saving.. but can also be vital facilities for when you’re moving house.

Our next & last post of this series will cover your NBN connection with NBN Co .. to avoid disruption to your internet service.. so watch out for PART 4 of Our Comprehensive EasyMove Services Checklist For Updating Providers.
